Live to Experience!

Happy new week Tech-nation!

The word “experience” is often used to talk about “what happened to someone in the past”. When something happens to people or people go through stuff, it is referred to as an experience. People often come online to share either a sad or happy experience as regards what happened to them in order to tell a story, appeal for pity, or pass across a message.

Experience is not just about recounting stories of things you have been through. There is more to experience than telling people about how a thief broke into your home and made away with 10 million.

Experience according to ALDOUS HUXLEY in The Power of Self-Discipline by BRIAN TRACY is “not what happens to a man; it is what man does with what happens to him”. Take a few minutes and let those words sink deep!

Although what we go through is the foundation of experience, experience in its self is what you do with what happens to you. Before you go about calling what you witnessed an experience, make sure you are no longer in the same spot. Whatever you go through, always take out time to figure out what can be done to remedy the situation or find out what you can learn from it.

Real people who say they have experienced poverty are those who do everything to ensure that they never are poor again. If you scan through society, most of those who claim to cast and bind poverty, enjoy living in it because they have refused to do anything about getting out. The only person permitted to call a story an experience is the one who has worked on their story and made meaning out of it.

Now, what is that story you were sharing again? Will you stop and work on it or you will keep ranting?

Live each day knowing things will happen to you. But whatever the case, always turn the stories into experiences, and live the experience. Remember that your experience is only what you do with what happens to you!
